Legal Recruiter & Certified Executive Coach

David Namkung, J.D.,
Founder of Mosaic Legal Search

Dave brings a distinctive combination of legal training, executive coaching, and deep immersion in BC’s legal community to his recruitment practice.

A UVic Law graduate who articled with a leading national law firm, he is a Certified Executive Coach, and a frequent speaker on legal careers and practice development. His market understanding is grounded in years of community leadership, advocacy, and active contribution.

Dave began his career in legal recruitment in 2011. He has completed hundreds of searches for national, regional, and boutique law firms, corporations, and public-sector organizations.

His work includes associate and partner recruitment, in-house counsel, and law firm leadership, as well as firm and practice group mergers. Dave advises managing partners, practice group leaders, and general counsel on recruitment, succession, and practice strategy.

Trained as an executive coach, Dave helps lawyers bring clarity to career decisions through thoughtful self-inquiry and a view of the whole person. While he does not maintain an active coaching practice, his training informs conversations that consider professional ambitions alongside personal priorities, long-term plans, and market realities.

As a founding executive member and former President of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers BC, Dave remains an active supporter of FACL BC, the Korean Canadian Lawyers’ Association, and UVic Law’s alumni and student initiatives, among others.

Dave was raised in Los Angeles’s Koreatown before immigrating to New Westminster. He later moved to Victoria, where he completed his undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Victoria and earned a Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University. A proud parent and autism advocate, he is eager to support and connect with other lawyer parents raising neurodivergent children.
